LIYYU Coffee FAQ.
A directory of the most asked, the most answered, and the most worth settling before your first cup arrives. Filed by subject, in roman numerals.
Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee. Every Liyyu lot is Grade 1 and natural process. Beans grow at 1,400–2,350m in volcanic soil — Yirgacheffe leans bright and floral, Sidamo wine-deep and balanced, Guji berry-tropical and jasmine-sweet. The elevation, the shade canopy, and the hand-picking at peak ripeness are what you taste in the cup.
Every coffee we sell is Grade 1 and natural process — Yirgacheffe, Sidamo, and Guji alike. Medium roast, whole bean, roast date on the bag.
Every bag is stamped with its roast date. Store beans in the original one-way-valve bag, cool and dry, out of light. Brew to taste — freshness is on the stamp, not a marketing window.
We currently ship whole bean so you can grind for your brew method at home. Coarse for French press and cold brew. Medium-coarse for Chemex. Medium for drip and pour-over. Medium-fine for AeroPress. Fine for espresso. A burr grinder delivers noticeably better flavour than anything ground days earlier.
Not in the current catalog. When we add decaf, it will be Swiss Water Process only — no chemical solvents. Join the waitlist or write us if you want to be first to know.
Standard (USPS Ground Advantage) is typically 3–7 business days within the continental US. Expedited runs 2–3 days. Orders placed before 2 PM EST Monday–Friday usually ship the same day once roasted stock is available. Tracking is emailed when a label is created.
We ship throughout the United States and Canada. Canadian orders take 5–7 business days and may be subject to customs duties. Broader international shipping will come only when we can still deliver freshly roasted coffee.
Standard shipping is a low flat rate at checkout (USPS Ground Advantage). Free standard shipping on orders of $50 or more. Subscription deliveries always ship free. Expedited options are available at a higher rate.
Within two hours of placing an order, yes — contact customer service and we will intercept it. After that window, the order enters fulfillment and can no longer be altered. Unopened bags may still be returned under our 30-day return policy (customer pays return shipping unless we made an error).
All major cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover), plus Apple Pay and Google Pay. Google Pay is available on the cart (Google Pay API) and on Stripe Checkout. Every transaction is secured with TLS encryption — we never see or store your full card number.
Yes. Daily is one 250 g bag ($18.99/mo), Ritual is one 500 g bag ($24.99/mo — best everyday value), and Reserve is 500 g + 250 g ($39.99/mo). All include free US shipping; pause or cancel anytime. See /plans.
Cool, dry, out of sunlight. The bag’s one-way valve lets CO₂ escape while keeping oxygen out — keep beans sealed in it. An airtight ceramic or opaque container works too. Avoid the fridge or freezer: both introduce moisture and dull the aromatics.
Begin at 1:16 — roughly 30g of coffee per 480g of water. Adjust to taste: 1:15 for a denser cup, 1:17 for a brighter, lighter one. Weigh your coffee; volume scoops are imprecise. Small adjustments make a surprising difference.
Unopened bags: return within 30 days of delivery for a refund of the product price. You pay return shipping unless we shipped the wrong item, damaged goods, or a defective bag — then we provide a prepaid label. Opened bags are non-returnable except for quality or fulfillment errors. Original outbound shipping is non-refundable on change-of-mind returns. Full details: /returns.
